Have a 2013 A4 with OEM xenon headlights. The dealer replaced the nearside bulb, under warranty, a couple of months ago. Now the offside has gone. They first argued I would have to have the whole headlight replaced si I asked them to do it under warranty. They then said it was just the bulb and not covered by warranty.

I Need a bit of help because the handbook says this is a dealer only job.

Firstly is it OK just to change the bulb?
Secondly what bulb di I need
Thirdly I assume I have to take out the headlight to do the job as the airbox is in the way, does the headlight simply slide out?

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

I can't offer any advice on this, but I am keen to hear from those who can. it seems to me very strange that your lights which I have the impression generally last for many years, both popped in a short time-and your car is so young too.

Now I'm more confused than ever! Does the xenon headlight bulb do both high and low beam? I tried the lights against a wall and only the running light is working. Plus I think I need to take the headlight out to get to the bulb but I don't wnt to do this if the bulb is not the problem. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Yes the bulb does dipped and main. It is a D3S bulb. The headlight on the 8K is very easy to remove, there are a couple of visual guides online and will aid removing, and changing the bulb.
