Ok so I'm around 2 months since I got the MMI software updates in my MY12 A6 Sline to version 900.

I've got the data connection working fine now but Audi have completely screwed the MMI interface.

Plugging my iPhone 6 in when I start the car at times is a complete lottery that the two will talk to each other.

1) Commonly resets album or playlist back to first one available on the phone after ignition is turned off.
2) Keeps turning off random playback (shuffle) when it feels like it, either when it's resets the playlist as in 1) or stays on the playlist after ignition turn off.
Tried turning off shuffle on the iPhone but MMI turns it back on when I turn random back on.
3) IPhone and MMI display completely different songs playing at times, and the time counter is moving, but the song playing on the iPhone is the actual one playing.
4) Complete lock up with MMI displaying a song not playing and iPhone doing the same thing.

I am wondering if it is the cable connection I'm using as well, so I'm not completely blaming the car or the phone.

I have the old 30pin cable in the interface, with an apple 30pin to lightning adapter connected to this, and then a third party female lightning to male lightning extension cable so I can put my phone in my Brodit holder.

I have taken the third party cable out of the loop a couple of times which has made little difference, so the only thing else it could be is the MMI cable or the Apple adapter.

I would replace the MMI cable with a lightning one, but I'm not sure which colour cable to get. Local Audi dealer is a bit useless to be honest.

Any suggestions people?

Thanks

Firstly I think the AMI interface is not that well thought through and does seem to do random and irritating things. have you checked that Bluetooth Audio streaming is switched off (in the Bluetooth menu within Telephone). The current Lightening Cable is the Yellow collar one. I did a major test of the various options and what did and did not work and the results are here AMI issues with Facelift RMC MMI (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/169708-AMI-issues-with-Facelift-RMC-MMI?highlight=lightning) whilst this relates to the facelift MMI I think much of it also relates to the AMI in general

The 'green' AMI Lightning lead (4F0051510AD) has been superseded by the 'yellow' AMI Lightning lead (4F0051510AL).
