Just drove the 5 miles home from work and had 3 people tell me the reverse lights are constantly on on the car, whatever happened must of recently as I drove to work this morning in the dark and no one said anything/flashed. Does anyone have any ideas before I go to the garage with it?
Its a 2003 A4 cab
Many thanks

Reverse light switch? Best getting it on a diagnostic.

Thanks Chris, after a quick search on here and google, it seems a common fault, and looks like a relatively quick fix (if you have arms like Mr Tickle). Just trying to find out now if the sensor for the 5 speed box is the same as on my 6 speed manual box? Seen loads of sensors for 5 speed advertised, but none for the 6 speed
Had a quick look on ECP website, just to see what it looked like and I put in my registration for the 3,0 sport cab and it came up with 2 reverse light switches, both look completely different from one another?

as a temp measure to keep you legal, you can remove the plug from the switch. if that puts the lights out then you have definately found the fault. alternatively just pop both bulbs out until you get a new switch. this is easier and saves crawling on the ground..

Cheers Zollaf, have removed both bulbs for now as it was p1ssing down with rain this morning :D
Do you know what the switch on the 6 speed box looks like? I put my details into ECP website and it returned 2 completely different reverse switches, one looked a lot like a spark plug, the other looked like a flimsy bit of plastic, kind of like a plunger of some description? I want to make sure I order the correct part
