I unclipped my sun visor to move it to the side window the other day because the sun was low in the sky and it was shining right in my eyes. The clip where it pulls out from broke, very easily actually but I haven't had the car long so maybe it's had some abuse in the past. I had to order another one as it's a S-Line charcoal one and it's coming at the weekend. It looks just like the A3 one. Has anyone changed one of these or have any diagrams/pictures? I can't see a screw anywhere to remove it but maybe when I get the new part it will all become clear, any ideas?

OK the answer was as I said self evident once I got the relevant part. The bit you see is a cover which prises off, it's kind of like a rawl-plug idea the pins from that go into the main hook and spring section and spread holding it tight into the roof structure, so with one off the other quickly follows. Then, replacement is just a reversal of removal as they say in Haynes. I expected to get the whole thing, 2 bits and I thought screws but there are no screws and the £10 item doesn't come with the cover. Original cover was fine and it all seems fairly robust so god knows what happened to mine, I wondered if the spring part had jammed and I was relying on the hook flexing to allow the visor to unclip but no, it all looked fine, so I guess it was knocked at some time and maybe partially broken anyway. long story for a smallish relatively simple thing to change but the info may help someone, so worth recording IMHO.
