Hi All,
Cutting a long story short I have had a replacement engine in my 2005 2.5 diesel cab. I picked it up yesterday and all is good apart from I cannot pick up any radio stations, there is just static
I've read through here and see that there is a common fault with the wiring to the amp on the boot lid but before I start stripping that down I was just wondering if there is anything else that could be related to the work
that has been done as it seems very coincidental.

It is the radio with the built in satnav (not sure what model that is) and at some time during the work the battery went completely flat (just in case that may have a bearing on it)

Thanks

Have you popped out the RNS-E unit to check the aerial is connected at the back? ALthough that said even without it on you normally get something.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and sorry to sound stupid but what do you mean by "RNS-E unit" is that the head unit itself?
Also, I can sometimes here a slight bit of radio depending on where about I am but it is literally as if the aerial isn't plugged in so the unit itslef is just picking up what it can without an aerial
Thanks

Hi Sorry - yes the whole head unit (the Sat Nav plus is generally known as the RNS-E) you'll need radio 'keys' to pull it out. There are four small slots that the release keys fit into. The radio aerial plug on the back is usually a white one if I remember correctly (the blue one is the GPS antenna for the sat nav). If you don't have the release keys they can be picked up fairly cheaply and will be worth having in the future I'm sure.

It relatively easy for these aerial plugs to become disconnected when things are being played around with - so worth checking first before exploring the amplifier.

Hi,
Cheers for the help, obvious really that I should check. You just jump to conclusions when other work has gone on but makes sense to still check the basics first. I'll get a set this weekend and have a look.
