First post. Have had 20-odd 3, 5 and 7-series BMWs over more than 20 years and have finally seen the light!

I usually buy a 7-9 year old car, run it into the ground and then buy another the same to replace it. BMW electronics and other reliability issues in their post-2005 cars means I'm switching sides and looking to get a 06 - 08 B7 2.0TDi for her and a similar 3.0TDi Quattro for me - both Avants.

The V6 is not easy to find, especially a manual version, so should I persist or just go for a pair of 2.0s? Maybe a 140ps for her and a 170ps for me?

Off now to look around this forum. TIA

Well, a few hours on and I've just read that the 170ps engine is NOT an engine to go for in the (05-08, B7) model years I'm looking at.

Having said that, I suppose if replacement injectors have been fitted already, and they're not the same as the original Siemens, which were improved in 08, then perhaps I have only the oil pump, turbo and clutch/flywheel to worry about.

I'm moving from the BMW minefield as they seem to have so many, very expensive, problems when 7+ years old hence looking at the Octavia and from there the A4.
I suppose I should I think about the A6 as well - any reason not to?
