View Full Version : Driver's Door lock button - will not lock with ignition on

Appreciate if someone could confirm whether this is expected behaviour (and why if so).

Audi A6 Avant BE - 2013.

Driver's side internal door lock button opens all doors if pressed. If the lock button is pressed, the doors do not lock whilst the engine/ignition is on. With engine/ignition off, the lock button will lock all doors as expected.

Automatic lock (if set on) works correctly when driving away from standstill.

Thanks.

No, I would expect the doors to both lock and unlock with each press with the engine on.

Mine works fine. Will lock and unlock with ignition on, off, engine running and not.

Seems very odd that it won't let you lock it when the ignition is on.

Thanks for replies. I replaced the battery in the key (range appeared to be decreasing anyway), and am now getting expected results. Assume the two are linked....though maybe not.

Spoke too soon.....it's actually dependent on whether the headlights are on (and hence whether the door lock switch is illuminated). With headlights off, door lock button works as expected. With them on, can only unlock. Completely repeatable.

Assuming there will be no direct link between whether the door lock switch is illuminated or not, I presume this is a bug in the car's software? I guess a dealer issue to resolve under warranty.
