View Full Version : Wheels
Hi guys
Think this might have been answered in many other posts so I'm thinking having all the answers in one post might help others and me.
I'm looking for a list of the sizes of all the OE wheels/tyres a combinations available for the a6 c7.
This would be helpful especially for those looking for new wheels or winter wheels. I've been looking for winter wheels for ages and would be interested in alternatives like aftermarket in comparison to OE but struggling to find out the information.
So let me start and correct me if I'm wrong.
Wheel size. Width. Offset. Tyre size.
18'. 8'. ET?. 245/45/18 100Y
18'. ? . ET?. 225/55/18 winter size
19'. ? . ET?. 255/40/19 100Y
20'. ?. ET?. 255/35/20 97Y
Not sure if the offset is the same on all the wheels or if there are other wheels/tyre combo that fits as well.
Thanks

Can't really comment on the C7, however a 245/45/18 would be better off on a 8.5" rim, it will still fit on an 8" though.
As to winter tyres best to stick to 18's on XL
Have you considered part worn? The rules on the continent are far more stringent with tyres over 3yrs old having to be replaced regardless of wear, as a result some UK companies buy them up cheap and ship them over in container loads and sell them at a fraction of the price:

I got mine 2yrs back for 180 for 4 with 6.5mm, going on for their 3rd winter they still have a shade less than 5mm left
If going for new I'd get these:

This might help, although I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives. Bear in mind it doesn't cover all possibilities (however perverse) including undersized/oversized tyre conversions.
I used a quattro Avant as an example, and you can decipher the offset which is the 2 digit element of the code immediately before "5112" (stud pattern/PCD). These offsets aren't exact as they're rounded to nearest production sizes.

Maybe just add to your original post that the centre bore is 66.6. All previous A6 have been 57.1 in case anyone is looking to get a set from ebay etc. Going the other way is possible with spigot rings.
There should also be a 17" winter set up but no idea what it is. This is a good site.http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Audi/A6%20(2011%20-%20).html

The 17" setup won't fit some variants though, my allroad and Scott's biturbo for example; so it needs noting in some way.
Also be careful not to confuse nomenclature of feet (') and inches (") ;;;) At least VAG doesn't have any obscure millimetric sizes like on the Mini Metro to confuse things further.

Probably because you are in Belgium. Across here the wheels and tyres are getting bigger and bigger. The Black Edition, which I think is only for the UK market, comes with 20" wheels on the A6 and 21" on the A7. Too big for me where I live with the road surfaces and the tyres are expensive. Looks good which is the main thing for some people.

i should have qualified that it is my winter setup that is 225/50/18.

Had these on my C6 Avant http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&typ=R-123106&Breite=245&Quer=45&Felge=18&kategorie=6&rf=1&sowigan=Wi&dsco=110&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&cart_id=44950489.110.24785&plz=ne7+7gw&montagebutton=Search+for+fitting+station&Monsuchen=1#station_search
Best winter tyre out there, also used them all summer and they were surprisingly good.
I will be putting a set on my C7

I've got 255/40 R19 on my A7 FL and I stuck Nokian winter tyres on my last A7. Very good indeed.
I was about to stick the (same) winter tyres on to my existing 19" OEM rims on my car but I've got to wondering if there would be any issue with sticking winter tyres on the standard 19" rims.
I noticed that the Tyres spec sticker on the inside of the drivers door lists the wheel / tyre sizes along with pressures, but the M+S (Mud and Snow) tyres specs have an entry for 18" and not 19".
So if I was to put Winter tyres on my standard rims, would that fall foul of the "manufacturers recommendations" and as such if I had an insurance claim, could the insurance company say "tough - you've the wrong tyres on?"

Kenny. There's a lengthy thread regarding winter tyres, but in essence put them on if you want to and just tell your insurer. Accept and react to the compromise in performance if you don't remove them when temperatures begin to rise. The easier option might be to get winters on smaller wheels, but that's not what you're asking. The manufacturer has to give advice for winter fitments which will allow snow chains to be added if conditions and local requirements dictate.
Just because Audi doesn't confirm something is possible doesn't mean it isn't. I've never seen any manufacturer's comment on the fitment of furry dice for example...;)

Hi Splash
The question here is not around functionality; I know the tyres will work on my existing rims. The question is whether an Insurance company would refuse to honour a claim if the wheel/tyre combination is not explicitly listed by the car manufacturer?

OK, so you've correctly deduced that it's a question that you'll only resolve with their answer. I would suggest being as generic as possible so that you are not limited to brand, pattern, speed rating etc. etc. unless asked specifically. Of course I'm not assuming any other implications like Audi's tyre programme so am only advising on the info you've given. If you search I think you'll find some reassurance on the other thread.
