door not unlocking

Hi all , my 2009 a4 o/s rear door doesen't open with all the other doors when unlocking on the fob or the switch in the car , I have to open it using the inside door handel.once Ive opened it using the inside door handel the door opens normally with both handles until I next lock the car.

Any ideas ?

This was a common fault on the A6, it's the micro-switches inside the locking mechanism. Only solution was to replace the locking mechanism.

Actually, on the A4 its a different problem. Basically the contacts on the actuator motor get dirty causing improper operation. You could swap the actuator or fix it yourself (its fiddly but not that hard). Instructions here: Door not opening from outside door handle after unlocking the car with the remote. I had to do all 4 doors on my car by the time I got rid of it.
