Hi all, I have just ordered the above, not really into my toys so have just added bum warmers and folding mirrors. It is to replace my current pre facelift 2.0 TDI 177 Multi. I haven't driven the 272 but and am sure I will find it plenty fast enough. It is more the extra smoothness and refinement that I am looking forward to. I may have just about been able to stretch to the BiTDI but have to draw the line somewhere. I am leasing so believe that this is the sweep spot of the range re the monthly lease payments and mpg.
How does the S Tronic compare to the multi? TBH I have quite liked the multi, in "normal" driving it is v smooth but is not the best gearbox for pushing on. Audi have obviously decided that the S Tronic is better as I don't think the multi is available on any Audi model anymore.
Anyway is 272 drivers can let me know how they are findind their cars and what sort of mpg they are getting it would be good to know.
Many thanks

You'll love the S-Tronic box, it's so smooth and so quick at changing gears.
I've gone from a S-tronic daily driver to a tiptronic and I miss the S box.
Just a shame the S-Tronic wasn't available for me

I've just got a 272 Saloon. I've only done around 800 miles so far, I'm getting 35 mpg average and 40ish on a longer trip. the power/refinement/smoothness is better than I thought it would be. I sometimes thinks it doesn't get the credit it deserves. do some comparisons on Zeperfs and you'll see what I mean. it's pretty quiet when cruising with a low V6 rumble sound when booting it.
I've never owned an auto before so can't really compare, sometimes think it's a bit slow when changing into reverse, i can get over that.
I find it much quicker when I use the paddles over full auto, however I'm still getting used to it. I've driven a multi and a tip but not long enough to really do an accurate comparison.
I would have liked the BiTD but not sure of the reasons why, I have no regrets whatsoever, It's brilliant.
I always said i'd never pay for in car sat nav, i did, and glad i did. It's not just the sat nav it's the connect, coloured screen, media controls etc that step up from my last C7 without it. Google earth maps on the MMI and DIS make a difference. especially when in towns with 3D buildings etc.
The stop start is good, i expected it to be like what has been said on the earlier autos, with this it comes in then you can take your foot off the brake, even in drive, it starts again when you press the go pedal. unless it needs more charging power, then it starts itself before you go again.
My only frustration is that some of the VCDS coding things i like, are not yet known, e.g. see me home lights cannot be adjusted to only light the all-weather lights, or at least i don't know how to do it. i could on the 2104 MY, but i thinks thats something to do with the LED headlights, Which are good, not major upgrade money good, but good to have within the spec. On the motorway, I light up signs (and cones) way in front of other cars without dazzling, xenons never were quite as good as these.

I wouldn't pay extra for the tech pack on a lease or pcp. £1625 on the price works out at about £40 a month extra on the lease/pcp cost.
I have the standard sat nav set up and it's really good as it is. You might miss the tech pack if you've had it before, but you certainly wouldn't feel like you were missing out if not.
As for 272 bhp, it will still feel fast. I had an xf with the same power and that felt quick.
Will be picking up my 272 next week so glad to hear you guys are enjoying the 272 and fuel consumption between 35-40mpg is good to hear too.
Was toying with idea of the bitdi but couldn't justify the extra money and wanted more toys so went for the 272.

Well I've recently returned from a 2200 trip to the south of France, so have some stats to share:
Average speed of 57mph over the 2200 miles ( with a crawl in the UK on motorways, and a good speed on empty French ~85mph or so autoroutes) gave an average of 43.1mpg.
I also got over 620mls on a single tank (drove from
Rouen in France to Glasgow on a single tank with circa 40mls still in the tank).
More importantly the 272 drives bloody fantastically. I had a 245 A7 before and the 272bhp just adds an even bigger smile.
Bottom line - you'll love the 272 Quattro (mines an A7 - which I bloody love).

I've been reading this forum for a while, I've had Audi 3.0TDi's since 2007 starting with an A4 then an A6, current A4 and awaiting my 272 A6. All Avant's and all brilliant cars; would love to have gone for the BiTo but the BIK was/is rediculose compared with the 272.
I do find it strange that some people don't want to invest in the technology you can have in the A6. If I wasn't so impacent I would have gone for the new A4 but that would mean a wait of yet another three months..... So I went for the A6 with loads of toys including the super sport seats which I don't think I have seen speced on another car yet, plus lots of others taking the car to circa £60k but with the 272 engine it saves me £200 a month in BIK over the BiTo which I would have loved, but could not justify the extra £5k, less toys and more tax, so the 272 is an absolute bargain.

I would go for lots of toys if it was a company car. Mine is private on a pcp and every £1000 of toys is £25 a month on top of a payment of nearly £700 a month as it is.
The biturbo engine was more important to me than turning the car into a fancy PC, the standard black edition toys and standard sat nav are just fine. Less toys, but more power and better sound. If I could have both I would, but if I can only have one or the other; I chose the car to drive, not watch TV at the traffic lights.

I get that about it's a car to drive else we would all be going around in 1.6D bland saloons. I drove the BiTb and TBH other than the sound which is brilliant, I didn't find it that much quicker than the 272. If you're going for out and out speed then the 335d xDrive is the one to get and its cheaper but personally I don't like the brand image and its a little too small, so until they import the Alpina variant with xDrive or the A4 gets e-Quattro the 272 is the way to go.
i didn't go for the TV option, that is a little OTT even for a gadget mad idiot like me. If mine was a personal car PCP etc then I think I would have gone for the BiTb too but until those I missions figures come down the 272 will do for getting to work and back.

The 335d isn't really a fair comparison, yes it's slightly quicker, but it's not the same class of car. The 535d is the equivalent. I didn't go for it because I live on a hill and wanted 4 wheel drive, oh and I don't like the piped through the speakers exhaust sound idea.

Would be great to find out what the 272 is actually putting out. Not sure if you’re interested, but for £60 you could get it tested over at Ecotune in Hillington. No idea how accurate they are, but it would give a comparison against a 245 and 313 BiTDI.
