Hi there,

Have a 2003 TDI SE. The light cluster on the nearside bootlid fills with water every time it rains. Therefore the lights is that section do not work. Has anyone figured out 1. HOW and if so 2. WHAT THE FIX IS FOR THAT.

Also lower pitch whining noise when turning the steering.

And lastly, engine tremble mainly in 4th gear from around 45-52 mph. It is noticeable at the same speed in 3rd or 4th gear but barely as much.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You need to take off the lights and replace the seals or silicone the back of them, including the number plate light if fitted to the bootlid

Gearbox oil change may help the 4 th gear tremble , however maybe sign of clutch going

power steering will change engine note when turning at idle or low speed , check the steering oil level

Hi Niall and thank you for your reply. I tried to silicone it but that failed. Do you know where I can get the seals from, it does look like the seals around the light and number plate have perished.

Ok didn't think about replacing the oil probably the cheapest option. I'll check the service history to see if/when the clutch was changed but that's by fear.....

Power steering fluid level is fine and couldn't see any specs of metal in there or anything like that. Also I've replaced the power steering belt.

I wouldn't worry about the power steering too much, might be pump, might not .............. wait till it fails. Sometimes it can be a pipe collapsing

Seals , just go to Seat for them or GSF http://www.gsfcarparts.com/seat/alhambra/category/parts/electrical-lighting I don't know if EuroCarParts do the same ? Take off all remains of silicone to get a good bond.

Remember the number plate seal as well

Did you put a blob of silicone on the number plate screws ? Not always the seals

Its hard to think what the engine tremor really is without seeing it or driving it. Have you got a scan tool ?

Hi.
I had the same problem with my 09 Alhambra. I cured it by drilling a small hole in the bottom corner to let the water out. providing you keep the hole clear it keeps the light clear of water.

It's there any way you can reseal the light. I'm going to replace the seal the goes around the number plate holder. However the light on the tailgate itself has warped and parted the lights seal, any ideas on how to fix that?
