Door lock button not locking and other electrical problems

I've recently bought a MK5 golf, 2005, and the door lock button in the car is not working, any solutions to this?? Also the window button on the drivers side puts the window up, but not down, don't know whether this could be a loose connection or not??

Help much appreciated.

I can't say I've ever had to replace a lock button before, but electric window switches are quite a common failure on MK5 Golfs.

Managed to fix the lock button, the wiring loom in the door wasn't in the best of shape so I bodged it back together, and every thing works except the window switch!
