Can anyone help.
I have a C5 2.5tdi that refuses to start. Initially I changed one of the fuel return lines on the right bank middle cylinder. Car ran fine for 20mins or so to check for leaks. I went on a test run and got about 200yds and it died. Had it recovered and checked all obvious points. I.e. Fuel in filter body-OK, fuel at injectors-OK, but I did notice no fuel pump noise from the tank. Checked fuse OK, removed fuse (No 28) and applied +12v to jump pump and it does come on. Fuel relay is working can hear and feel it( also removed it and tested on bench). VAG diag tool brought up following errors-

00542 G80 needle lift sensor
00575 Intake manifold pressure sporadic regulating limit
01376 Engine speed signal/inj pump sporadic defective
01206 Signal for duration of ignition off static implausable signal

I've changed the engine speed sensor on the block just to see if it was that (cheapest item first) but made no difference.

Anyone got any ideas what I should be looking at? Dont want to start ripping out injector pumps etc until I know I'm looking at the right bits?!

The fuel pump inside the tank does not push the fuel up to the injection pump It Just compare the amount of fuel between the two sides in the tank, and it works only when you have less than half a tank (from 2004 and below)The Injection pump sucks the fuel from the tank. Check for air in the clear fuel tube Between fuel filter and the injection pump.

Since the last thing you did was fuel system service I was betting on the air in the fuel system. about the G80 Check his resistance You should get about 100 ohms

Thanks again, I'm going back to basics and will bleed fuel system, probably Wednesday now as working away.
