Hello Community

I have acuired an 2006 Audi A6 S Line 2.0 TDI, however... It has now a number of faults which i need your help with..

The car drives fine but has the below issues..

OBD2 no communication, Glow plug light on dash flashing, DPF light on dash and now the Automatic lever is stuck in Park!

1) I have attempted to use 2 Diagnostics tools to try and read the codes, but the communication is failing. I have tried to use VCDS, test port is Good but does not find any controller and tried use a standalone handheld obd2 diagnositc tool, power does to it but again connection failure. What could be causing this? I cannot read the ECU and find out the problems.

2) Glow plug light is flashing regardless even though engine and drives fine?

3) DPF icon appearing on dash?

4) The automatic gear lever is now stuck in Park?

Please can any one help with this and give advice? :(

Thanks!

Hi

All brakes are perfect, all electionics working.

I have noticed the Gear selector on the dash is not displaying the gear selected. It should be displaying P but nothing is highlighted

I have pressed the override button under the front ashtray compartment to allow me to more the gear level. Even when I put it in N or D again the gear selection display on the dash is not displaying the gear i'm in?

I had a car auto electicion come and go a code read which on his advanced diagnostic system connected fine and did a full code read.

I have the follow codes which came out

17090 - Transmission Range Sensor F125 - Implausible Signal : P0706
01119 - Gear Recognition Signal
6275 - Park/Neutral Switch

Do I need a switch replace which the diagnostic man suggested or new CU for the transmission unit?

UPDATE:

The OBD2 issue was down to my cable being old and only picking up cars up to 2004

Clearing the fault codes sorts everything out, the dash displays P highlighted and selecting a gear is no problem, BUT when I turn off the car and take key out and put it back and turn the key it's back to displaying no gears and stuck in park?

What fault codes have come back? Are the brake lights working?

Stop questioning advice when its given, just take the time to check what people ask you to.

If it is not the the cause then people can advise you again but without the answer to the first question who knows.

Mods can you merge the 2 posts that are for this into 1.

Update:

Issue was Transmission ECU. Got it repaired by specialist costing £200 with warranty. All working now.
