Hi all

Just recently bought an Audi A6 Automatic and i've noticed two issues in the past days....

Firstly - the center cluster display where the current gear, mpg, range is shown does not come on when the car starts. Only shows up when the car warms up and then stays on throughout the journey. It does not flicker or anything so i'm guessing a minor issue?

Secondly - When switching the car off, i have realised that when i remove the key the radio stays on and the car doesn't realise that it has been switched off as i am unable to lock the doors. I have to re-insert the key and then turn the key from on to off position until i hear a click which then switches the radio off and i can lock the car.

My feeling is that both issues are linked?

anyone offer any form of advice please and put my mind at ease?

thanks

VCDS scan needed....there are a few peeps in/around Brum with it that could scan it for you.

A couple of questions:

1) Does the steering lock work
2) If you are playing a CD or in Nav does that stay on too?

Right so i put it on a diagnostic but it wasnt a vcds scanner. A mate had a delphi diagnostic software which he hooked it up to.

The only codes the car threw were p161b and c which relate to glow plugs so nothing for the two issues im having.

I tried to see if the steering locks but it doesnt. The radio stays on, thr instrument cluster switches off and nothing else happens. I cant lock the doors as it thinks the key is still in the ignition.

Fault on ignition switch by the sounds of it. Do a search I seem to remember it's a common one.
