Help. Sat nav stopped working allroad

Hi there. My sat nav has stopped working on my allroad. It won't read the discs and tells me the discs are unreadable. It will however play cd's. Any ideas how I can fix this or get it fixed without forking out for a S/H unit at £500. Also is it possible to solely run it on the sd cards?

Have you tried a disc cleaner?

Hi, yeah I've tried a one without the liquid and I'm going to try one with when I get one. I'm hoping this is going to fix it :/

Hi,

When mine was playing up I took the unit out using the 4 radio removal keys, then took the top metal cover off (it's held on with 3-4 screws) and you can then see the laser (take any discs out before you start) - I used a cotton wool bud with some pure ethanol on it and very gently rubbed the laser. A load of gunk came off, and it now performs as it should!

JUst to finish the post off. I thought I'd try a new disc. So u bought one of eBay and hey presto the sat Nav is now working. Even though the discs look ok they only take the smallest scratch to make them in operative. Thanks for all the help
