My son has recently got a 2011 A6 S-Line (low milage) and he has just noticed something odd regarding the engine speed.
The car drives OK but when standing still and he puts the accelerator to the floor the engine revs do not go above 2,500rpm. As I said, when on the road the revs behave as normal, way up the scale.
Is this normal or should he be looking to have something seen to.

why do you want it to rev higher when stationary ? thats just not neccessary. but, someone already though of this and made an ecu that won't let it rev when stationary.

I agree it's not something one would normally do but he just happened to notice this and was wondering if this was normal.
He bought the car from a used car dealer a month ago with a three month warranty so if there is a problem he would like to have it seen to while under warranty.

It is normal- seemed strange when I first discovered it- but normal on all of our VW group cars except the RS!

as above, normal. press your esp button and it will rev right out but doing it while stationary has no benefit.
