How can I check that this is activated?
When I'm on the myAudi website, all the 'Connect' services have the green 'linked' icon showing to the right of the webpage EXCEPT the 'online traffic information' service. This also states that "To activate the service, you must use it once in the vehicle."
Should the green 'linked' icon appear once it is activated?
Thanks

Is it a new car, first time using it, or an older car (over 3 years).
You can see it in the MMI under: Audi Connect>settings

Sorry, I should have stated this. It's a brand new A6 with the Tech Pack Advanced.
I have been through to the screen you mention above and have clicked to activate it, but it still suggests from the myAudy site that it still has to be activated from the car's side. Should the green icon appear? What's the best way of knowing for sure that I'm fully up and running?!

Mine started working as soon as I set up my SIM in the car.
Initially the car displays TMC, then within a few seconds it says ON LINE. When on-line it uses Google Traffic which is far more accurate than TMC, especially in cities.

I can confirm that it won't go green on your myAudi webpage even once activated - I know this because in the car, after a few seconds my TMC icon changes to an ONLINE icon (so I'm definately getting online traffic updates) but I have just checked myAudi page and it says exactly the same as yours - "To activate the service, you must use it once in the vehicle."
I have no green boxes like I do for the other services.
I think Audi just aren't great at making certain things clear.

Like others have mentioned, on a new car:
1. Buy a PAYG or DATA SIM with credit (data credit) and insert in the SIM slot.
2. make a myaudi account on website.
3. link car to that website account with the 8 digit CAR PIN it gives you for connect.
On the website this PIN has a RED background (the PIN is entered into the car MMI)
4.Use the system at least once (the Audi connect bit)
5. any issues contact Audi UK customer services, Have your REG. & VIN number handy.
Telephone: 0800 699 888
(Open Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm)
E-mail: customer.services@audi.co.uk (%20customer.services@audi.co.uk)
Explain your issue, they will sort it for you or will talk to Audi Germany to make sure your account is live on the DATABASE servers.
The MMI Display will show Online at the bottom of the screen when your connected.

Just to elaborate on what noscream said, you don't need an active MyAudi/Audi Connect account for the traffic data, petrol station info etc.
Mine was active before my MyAudi account was up and running. You do need the account to send new destinations to the car from your Google Maps account.

Some people have also found that in order to activate the SIM they need to activate bu putting it into a tablet, phone or other device after which it will work in the car
