i've just traded in my 2008 b8 with concert radio for a 63 plate one with 3g mmi+ and I'm having a couple of issues.

Firstly, i have an ipod classic with 22,000 songs on (150gb). I had ami in my old car and the menus were a little slow and clunky due to having so many songs I'm guessing. But i could always select what i wanted eventually. With the new car it will load playlists, tracks etc and all other options. But refused to load artists at all until i disabled show song information. Now it works about 50% of the time. I know it's due to there being so many folders within folders and it struggling to read the information, but it surprises me that the new system struggles more than the basic concert. is there a way round this?
Secondly, when i first got my 2008 car i hated the sound quality, it sounded awful and tinny. I found a way round this by turning the mid and treble all the way down though on the concert and got it to sound pretty decent, i thought it would be easy to just do the same but the new mmi has no option for mid!! So at the moment the sound is terrible!
Now i know the speakers are exactly the same as my old car. so if i could find a way to adjust the mid again I'd be happy!

Anyone have any ideas? I have vcds so don't mind tinkering if anyone can help with these issues.

I dont use any apple products so cant comment precisely but if you can copy your tunes onto the car hard drive that will make things a lot faster. I put all my music on an external hard drive and have written a program to make playlists automatically and that is the best method for me. As for the sound quality I'm not sure. My sound setup has some extra sound settings over what you describe but I'm not sure if these are specific to the B&O setup or not.

Thanks for reply

The car harddrive isn't much use to me as i have 150gb of music, but i think the drive is only about 10gb?

How much music do you have on your external harddrive? Think this may be the only way forward for me. But the thought of having to manually drag and drop everything and sort tags myself is putting me off.
I know it's definitely the amount of music though. I've found my old ipod classic with about half the amount of music on and things load lightning quick.
Not normally an apple fan myself and stick to android all the way - but there's still nothing like the ipod classic with it's size of harddrive available, and the ease of use of iTunes.
Yeah i think the b and o set up has more options, can you remember the extra ones? I may use vcds to tell the car it has b and o fitted and see if it works

My external HD is 300GB I think. I have videos on there for the kids too. I dont bother with tags for my music but I sort mine by genre -> Artist -> Album which lets me choose something vague by genre or a specific album or something in between :-) I'll have a look for the extra options teh B&O adds and get back to you :)

Actually there is only bass and treble too. You can change the listening position, how many passengers the sound is intended for and the surround effect level but they wont do much in a non-B&O setup I dont think

No problem.

I'm looking at buying a harddrive now. But seeing all sorts of conflicting information about audi having a 4000song limit.

How many songs do you have on yours?

Thanks

I've got over 16000 songs on mine and playlists with over 1000 songs in them. All is working fine for me! If I do choose a playlist with over 1000 songs it sometimes takes a bit of time when first turning on the ignition but not always it seems. It's fine when selecting it for the first time however!
