Hi

Just taken delivery of a new A6 Avant with tech pack advanced. I've been searching threads, but am confused as to which colour lead is best. I have an iPhone 5C and I want to play Spotify tracks which are downloaded on my Spotify library.

Although I have managed to connect my iPhone through bluetooth, in the past I've always found the quality is better when connected by wire. Also, bluetooth doesn't appear to enable me to choose specific tracks/albums etc. which are held on Spotify on my iPhone from the MMI - all I can do is select the next or previous track.

So, is there a lead that Audi supply that will enable me to fully control the music on my iPhone 5C from the MMI? When I picked up the car last week and asked my dealer what cable I needed he said that because I had the more advanced MMI that I just needed a black cable - the Audi part code is 8V0 051 435 E (USB-Charging Adaptor for Apple iPhone with lightning connector). However, this does not seem to allow me to play anything from Spotify.

Any ideas please? Is it the cable or am I being a numptie?

With the facelift the Tech Pack replaced the Audi specific lead with a generic USB port so you can use your normal Lightning USB cable to connect the 5C to AMI. However the AMI interface only allows you to access music off the phone that is in the Apple Music (formally iTunes) Folder. Spotify, even in offline mode uses a different folder and can only be played in the car by streaming with bluetooth. Unfortunately the level of control offered from the car when streaming is very limited and most things need to be done on the phone directly

Thanks for the quick response John - sounds like the only slight positive to come out of this is that I wasn't being a numptie.....

I have picked up my new car a couple of weeks ago. I have the Tech Pack but can't quite get the AMI fully working. When I plug my iPhone in (Audi cable and apple cable) it reads my iPhone, shows my music on the screen and will bring up the artwork etc. But it won't play the music. If I start it on the phone it plays via the car speakers but then AMI won't let me say skip to the next track.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Check the phone is not connected for Bluetooth audio. Having it connected via Bluetooth and ami can confuse it. You can turn Bluetooth audio off in the Bluetooth menu (under phone)

Will give that a go. Makes sense this could be it because it worked at first then stopped and I have connected via Bluetooth in the meantime.

Fixed but it wasn't the Bluetooth audio, which was already deactivated.

It was actually the Audi Connect App! I had been into the Media section whilst in the car and I think it had tried to copy my music onto the hard drive, or at least prepare it for playing through the app. I guess Apple prevent the music from being transferred in this way.

Anyway, deleted the App and it's working via MMI again.

Will reload the App and avoid the media centre section.
