New member from Hythe Kent , just saying hello A3 TDI 170

I have a bit of a collection of cars, really into conversions and modifications.

MR2 Mk2 V6 supercharged, BMW Z4 (That I regret buying), Range Rover sport and just bought for a bit of fun an Audi A3 TDI 170 2009 (that I am really enjoying).

Quite amazed with its performance

Why do I regret buying a BMW Z4 hard top convertible? my wife made me sale the Audi TT 3.2 Quattro for it (That’s almost enough said..lol) .

The BMW simply hasn’t got the build quality, road holding ability or comfort, not a patch on the TT.

The MR2 V6 supercharged methanol injection took me three years to build.

Haven’t got any photographs of A3 yet, try to do some tomorrow (After mapping)

Perhaps creating a separate thread in a "off topic" or "other cars" area would be a good idea.

Certainly seems like you take modding to the next level. I've only don't very subtle mods to my A5. LED light conversions, RS5 grill, S5 pedals, FL gear stick, wheel spacers and 20" OEM rotors. However I'm just in the process of selling it all as I just ordered a new S5! Don't think I'll do much to that as it's pretty spot on as it is....LED lights and spacers will probably be it.

What plans have you got for the A3?

It would be interesting to talk about some of the modifications, that have been successful and some of the failures i had.

I have gone to some of the car shows that have all makes and models and got some good ideas from them.

The car was also built in my garage at home with the help of two good friends.

The A3 is a completely different learning curve for me, I am not a mechanic and am not an engineer, so I have to do lots of reading and research.
At this stage I just want to improve the roadholding and get rid of the 16 inch wheels.

Apparently the re-map should also improve the fuel consumption, even though its increased the power.

I also had the Flash gearbox remap, meant to make it run smoother
