Hi,

I'm looking at buying a secondhand touran which needs the ABS module replacing.

does anyone have a hint to where it's located under the bonnet? If any one has a drawings or experience of doing this could you share your opinions if you think it's a DIY job.

Probably one unit with ABS hydraulic blocks.

Hope you're getting the car for peanuts, If you check the fault code I think there is a pressure switch that fails and the module can be sent away for repair. I've also read that the new module might need to be cycled with VCDS to bleed it properly. Never done the job personally mind, but i did have a 2004 touran and this fault was always in the back of my mind!

Yup, colleague had his 04 Touran unit go, main dealer wanted £800 to replace, indi wanted 600, he ended up getting the indi to strip it out, he sent it ECU and indi re-fitted, cost him £450ish total.

Looks like ECU testing are doing the refurb for £200 on eBay.
