After having a browse around the Audi showroom in Cardiff and seeing the carbon inserts in the RS4, jealousy kicked in and the dash trims 'fell' out soon after.......
they are not 100% finished yet as the final layer of resin has just gone on and I still have the flattening, trimming and polishing left but I couldn't resist sharing so far 😁
I've just ordered another dash and door trim set so will be having a set to sell soon also....

so you have actually laid carbon fibre cloth on them and then resin, nice. i would ave just wrapped them or dipped them myself, but yours do look very nice...

They were wrapped in that 3m di-noc stuff before but over time they kept lifting from the base. Dip them? As in submerge the whole part in resin?

hydro dipping, you lay a transfer over some water and dip the part through it, the transfer then lays onto the part, you can do anything from an ashtray lid to a wheel, even to a whole car if you have a big enough bucket of water. check it out on google, its mad.. people even do playstation controllers..

Ahhh right I seen it, I did read into it about something that the finish they give it the same material as those lick n' rub tattoo transfers you used to get in chewing gum so unless it was epoxy' dot clear coated, one rub and the image falls off lol

its good, but it still is only a transfer, but means you can do any shape. can't beat real carbon though..

Finally finished the dash pieces, came out very well. The door trims will be ready by tomorrow and as soon as the new fabric arrives, the rear diffuser and engine cover will be getting some treatment 😝

Very nice indeed. Was it expensive?

I seen starter kits on eBay for about £50 from carbon mods which should be enough for it if you were to try but it did work out rather expensive as I bought 5kg tubs of resin along with a vacuum bagging system to start carbon fibre products manufacturing. What better to test a few pieces on than the dash of your own car
