timing belt query

Hi-have a 97 2 litre petrol with the ABK engine. The service manual says 80k for the change but does not give any time interval. Whats the views on this? Some manufacturers say change every 4 years regardless of mileage. Mines has done 30k but that was 7 years ago. Are there any problems noted with the timing belt for this engine. Are the valves interference if the belt goes? Any idea how many hours a garage would take to fit a new one? Sorry a lot of questions, thanks in advance for any help

I'd say it's at least 2 years overdue, get the pump done while you're in there.

I think its time to shop around for a new belt and water pump replacement-cheers
