Spent the morning at the Amex stadium courtesy of Caffyns Audi and have to say I was really impressed. Was given the keys to and RS6 and an RS3 and had around 45 min in each on my own.

Can't believe how savage the RS6 is. WOW! It actually had me effing and blinding at myself on a few occasions. It's just such an incredible piece of kit. Made the non air suspension on mine feel totally broken too. Even in dynamic the air suspension felt far more supple than the standard S line. The only thing that was a bit lacking was the noise (don't think it had the sports exhaust - was certainly a lot quieter than the RS3 which did have) which just sounded too muted from inside the cabin.

Just wow though. What a car.

Slightly more mixed feelings on the RS3 which have actually made me feel a lot better about cancelling my order and going for the S4 instead.

To be fair, it was never going to feel that quick having just come out of the RS6 but once it's on boost it feels fantastic and is pretty rapid. Definitely felt like it had a fair bit more go than the Golf R I drove a few months ago. What definitely set it apart was the sound though. I know everyone has already said this, but what an engine. With the dynamic pack it just sounds like a monster. Upshifts/downshifts and full throttle just make you giggle. Weirdly though I just didn't get the warm grin/feeling inside from driving it that I was hoping for. It is a fantastic car, no doubt, but just felt a little lacking in soul. I also just thought that the interior plastics etc were a bit low rent compared to the a6 but I guess that's to be expected.

Sorry for the rubbish pics but I was more interested in the driving!! ;)

Wow, you are very lucky Chief, My car is actually from Caffyns, shame I am a million miles away from there...

Are other audi dealers doing the same thing? Would love to sample the RS6 in the North West.

What is it like handling wise being such a big car?

thanks again.

It was a pretty big event, they had loads of different S/RS cars and although it was invite only, I have no idea why I was invited as we have never bought from them. My A6 has been in a few times for warranty bits and bobs though so I guess it's not very 'exclusive' ;)

I'm sure others do the same, maybe worth having a call with some of the bigger groups up north.

The RS6 was really impressive. The air suspension just felt so much better than the standard springs. To be honest, I was so blown away by the straight line power that I didn't really throw it around too much. It definitely felt lighter on its toes though.

What impressed me most was its ability to just be an A6 when you want to pootle through a village though and then terrifying pretty much anything else on the road when you have the opportunity.

I would be VERY worried about my own self control if I had one. It's just so quick that it starts to redefine what you see as an overtaking opportunity etc. Something dangerous in a normal car suddenly becomes quite possible and I think I'd struggle to behave sensibly.

Damn I enjoyed it though!!!

We had a similar event in cumbria on friday put on by Hadwins Audi, full RS range plus the new Q7
The RS6 was fully booked so went for the RS7, what a car! put it in sport mode and it turned into a popping and farting beast! never driven anything with as much power.
Problem now is my A6 ultra feels powerless!

That was what I found getting back in to mine too. I guess August is a good time for them to in these as assume new car sales are about the slowest in the year.

Yes, that RS6 definitely doesn't have the Sports exhaust. It's all a lot noisier with the Sports exhaust.

Jukkha just keep your eyes peeled I was invited a few months ago by our local dealers but I couldn't go to the event due to work commitments.

Most manufacturers are always doing something - it's just getting an invite [emoji17]

Thanks Nemo :)

On a much smaller scale, I was given a tt Quattro 230bhp s tronic last week for a couple of days while mine was at Audi Stockport.

I have to say was very impressed. Lovely barking sound when you put your foot down (not sure if this is a fake sound), very quick, handles superb but also very comfortable over bumps etc.

Best of all was the new style dash which I think the rest of the range will follow, i.e. Q7 has it, New A4 etc. It's like an updated phone with all the new electro style dials etc, I like it.

Audi lent my employers a TT 310 ps and that was a beast - like chiefbadger (no relation) it was swear out loud fast.

Just been invited to Bristol Audi's sport event and have tried to book an RS6 - fingers crossed....
