Hi,
I bought the Mrs a 2009 A4 cabriolet 2.0TDI
It has high mileage, 100K, but all is good apart from a rattling noise, like tin cans, coming from the passengers side, only when on rough rode surfaces.
Its quite loud, but disappears when I brake, even if I just slightly touch the brake pedal, it completely stops.
I thought it might be loose brake pads but I put my hand in and tried wobbling them but they seemed solid...
Does anyone have any idea, to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Luke.

Hi,
Just check yo brake pads on make sure that those springs (sheet like) are in position, the reason you have that rattling noise is because the brakes are hanging loose. hope that helps.

100k is not really high miles these days, but it is for a 2.0tdi!
Have you jacked it up and checked the road spring, calliper slides, top strutt bearing?

hi thanks for your reply but the new pads cured it.
why is 100k a lot for a 2.0 tdi? I though the diesels did the most miles these days...?

Well worth a google for audi 2.0tdi engine problems, oil pump, turbo(related to oil pump) and injector problems.
Mechanically engines now seem to last forever, its all the bits that are needed to make them run, Ive noticed that 100k miles is no longer considered as high miles.
