Hi, I apologise if this is in the incorrect place. I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone would be able to help me solve an issue with my 2007 VW Golf GT TDI. Under braking there is a strange 'clicking' noise coming from the front of the car. This noise only happens when braking below 30mph and seems to click with every resolution of the wheels. I've had it at the garage today where all the suspension, ball joints, steering rack, brakes, wheel balancing etc was checked without success 😡 Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I had all the brakes changed four weeks ago and the problem started within a week of getting them done. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated 👍

Hiya, can't help I'm afraid but if you repost in the Golf section I'm sure someone will be able to. Good luck.

Get the garage to check the brake pads as it sounds like they are jumping in the carrier. Its a common fault when garages use after market pads because they never fit tight so take the car back to the garage that fitted them and explain what the problem is and check the pads are a nice snug fit. I work in a garage and see this all the time because of cheap pads being used and im 100% that fitting good quality pads will solve your problem.

Cheers for your message Johnca....problem has been found. I ended up having to take it to another garage and they found that one of the new pads had been ground down too much which has causing the noise in the carrier like you said. It's booked back into the garage that fitted them next week for a new set
