I think this is a daft question, but if I'm wrong I'll be delighted.

I didn't add phone prep - high when i ordered my SE Tech with MMI Navigation plus. As a result, I have two SD slots and no SIM card slot, but my phone connects over bluetooth and I can control the music off my phone with the MMI controls, plus use my phone book to make hands free calls, etc.

Now for the silly question: Is it true that actually I can use Audi Connect with my bluetoothed phone, in the same way that I would have been able to insert a SIM if I had phone prep high?

No you can't.

But, there is a retrofit option. Not oem and costs about £250. Give you the full Audi connect package and in car wifi. Will dig out the company tomorrow.

That sounds intreaging. Have you missed off a 0 though? I thought the upgrade was a couple of grand

I think an oem retrofit would need an extra 0, but this is what I was referring to:

Audi 3GP MMI Onlineservices Retrofit-Kit, ONTIKA Automotive Ltd. (http://shop.ontika.net/product_info.php?products_id=29)

Looks interesting

Thanks M1tchy. That looks worthy of a bit of investigation. It looks like there is quite a lot it doesnt do though, like the Send destination to the car form a PC, or the WiFi hotspot. Shall do a bit more reading.

Yes I'd noticed those flaws too but you do get the online traffic, weather and Google Earth which are the main things I use mine for.
