I've never done this before on this forum. If it breaks any forum rules mods please remove thread.
I've stumbled across a low mileage 1996/7 (P) A4 B5 2.6 Quattro Saloon NOT ROADWORTHY (No MOT) on an auction website, with 2 owners and a claimed 59,000 miles from new. Currently it has no bids or interest. At the moment a bid of £250 could buy it. The auction ends at 18:00:12 on the 22/07/15. The car is located in Taunton Somerset. Though, it was registered new in Worcestershire. Had it been located in Worcestershire I'd have bought it, but I'm no longer prepeared to travel to buy a B5 With the exception of low miled S or RS models. Fine car that they were, everyone in my family wants B6's or later models. Our family B5 fleet is in terminal decline, I doubt many will be in use in three years time. Apart from my collection of three AFN engined cars, the S/RS's and a complete set of all V6 engined Avants.
I think this car could be a 'good un' (if it's as described) and might deserve restoring to roadworthy status.
If anyone is intrested please PM me for details. Please Note that I am not the cars seller, nor am I in any way whatsoever connected with the seller of this vehicle. Buyer beware and all that.

That's the one OAB A worcester County registered vehicle. I sincerley hope that someone will save it. The only worry is the mentioned rust to the underside due to standing. I suspect that this would be limited to subframes which are very easy to swap over, though you do have the hassle of getting the wheel alinement checked and if required reset. Doubtless other items would require renewal prior to getting an MOT
I see that the seller mentions service history, not really relevant as the cars been standing for two years, but it shows that the car was looked after when it was in use. For some reason this car looks 'right' to me, an honest looking motor. As stated earlier I hope someone steps up to save it. Even better if it's a forum member who shows us the finished product, and how He/She repaired it.
Damn! I'm looking at the Ifor Williams trailer and the Rangie and wondering if I should pop a bid in, the Rangie could do with a good run..............................NO I must resist the temptation. The Wife would kill me!

A £250 bid.
£150 in fuel/refreshments.
Quick little trip down the M5.
Looking forward to the photos when you get it home.

Oh well, to use the Dragons Den lingo 'I'm out' I'm afraid. The Wife has suggested that I need to get on with restoring some of my collection rather than keep buying more, I dread to think what will happen when my 'new' 200 Turbo arrives next weekend, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it!
I suppose she's right, and we have no application for another B5. Some of our B5's may well have to be disposed of as the family 'want out' of B5 ownership. Most will probably be traded in or onsold, but I have no doubt that a few will have to be reduced to spares and scrapped. Now if I had a rellie who was in dire need of a car that would be a very different story. I wonder if I could find a suitable rellie and resort to a little arm twisting?
I still can't help thinking that this car would turn out with TLC to be a sound investment of both time and money, for someone on here though.
If you have a hearty breakfast before you set off you could easily save £20/30 on the refreshment budget.
When it doesn't sell, you could put in a sneaky lowball offer of, say, £200 cash on collection.
That's even more of a bargain day out.
Until your good lady wife she sees the car she won't know just how amazing it is. Don't worry, she'll thank you later.
Looking forward to those photos.

Well, it sold for £330.00. But not to me, as I stated that the dragon wasn't willing to adopt yet another Audi. I hope whoever bought it returns it to the road, but that's up to them.
The Wife declared that she quite likes our 'new' 200 Turbo that turned up on a Brian James trailer on Saturday pulled by a magnificent and uncommon Q7 5.0 diesel, a bit of a beast that thing. I've never seen one with so many options fitted including the somewhat swish electric running boards that automaticly pop out as you open the door to exit then retract when you either climb aboard and fire up the engine or simply close the doors and walk away from the car. I bet they cost a few bob to have fitted. I'm impressed!
As for the 'new' 200 it was bought as a non runner, but given a minor service it now runs. The last owner (deceased) had removed the spark plugs whilst inhibiting the engine and put bungs in their place (odd thing to do) After his demise the Son of the owner who knows nothing about cars decided that the engine was knackered and sold it to me as such.

It's one of the last, Zoll. A 'Type 44' with 20V engine late 1990 registered. Thankfully it's a manual not a slushmatic that neutered cars fitted with same. Needs a few bits and bobs doing such as a set of new tyres and brake discs and pads and probably re conned calipers due to fifteen years of storage. (Would you trust fifteen plus year old tyres and brakes?) Everything else is fairly minor (bulbs and a couple of brake pipes ect) I can't see any suspension or running gear work needing doing, apart from the traditional rear diff oil seals which are just starting to leak. Oh and a rusty exhaust back box, but not blowing at the moment. By pure luck I've got a brand new full exhaust ready to go on.
