Hello, i have a 2005 vw golf 1.4 fsi (chain driven)
1. what is my engine code cant seem to find it?
2. also can i fit different 1.4 engines into it such as 1.4 16v cambelt driven? as i need to replace the engine and cant find any chain driven and find loads of cheap cambelt 1.4's is it possible?

find the engine code on a sticker in the boot, next to the spare wheel. best to replace like for like or you will cause a lot of headaches and grief for yourself..

found out its BLN but cant find any for sale can find others on ebay but engine code is BCA looks the same apart from this is cambelt not change!
Anybody know for sure what other 1.4's i can fit?

You'll have problems including but not limited to exhaust, ECU and emissions. Look in yell for a VAG breaker or your local paper. You might find a car that's been rear ended

Use a search engine like parts gateway, 247spares or others that send your request out to multiple breakers. Just beware of premium numbers in the search results as these are not usually genuine breakers but scams and always pay with a credit or debit card that offers purchase protection but most good parts search engines tell you this when you register (free). Have often sourced used engine parts this way. Had no problems apart from avoiding the premium numbers.
