We have a 2.0TDI S-line A4 estate that has just had a complete recon engine fitted due to the oil pump failing. According to various forums that i have been on, this is a common fault on this model when the cars approach 90-100K. I am interested in just how common a fault this is and if it as common as the forums suggest, why there is no advisory on getting this looked into? We bought the car 3 months ago from a friend. The car was very well cared for, complete with an Audi FSH.
Now, after much expense, i want to sell the car but have no idea what price to pitch this at and whether the issues have devalued it in any way. It has 102K miles on clock but essentially has all new engine and parts including cam belt, turbo, clutch, flywheel, starter motor. I am really confused about what to do but i am afraid i have lost all faith in it. The oil pump went, engine was rebuilt and then a week later the starter motor went. The garage had not connected the alternator following the engine refit but he says this would not have caused any issue with the starter motor and it is just bad luck!?
Any advice much appreciated.
