Hi guys
So the waiting is over and I have received the call that I can pick up the stunning Audi A6 Black Edition 2.0 TDI tomorrow afternoon 😊
Ibis white
Tech pack
Lighting pack
Parking pack
Heated front and rear seats
Folding and heated door mirrors
20" 5 twin spoke design alloy wheels in matt titanium, gloss turned finish
As those who have one already, you can imagine how thrilled I am right now ... But nothing compared to how I'll be when I finally get those keys in my hand 😃
He did say that they forgot to de-badge the car, and that can be done tomorrow if I still want that done after seeing it first ... Also they said they'll fill the tank up to full ... That's nice of them hey!
I just wanted to ask a few questions, in relation to the car. I would be very obliged if you guys can help me out here ..
• Which cable/s should I be getting with the car? I recall seeing some previous post where they were on about two different coloured cables? Is it a lightening just cable? I have an iPhone 6 if that helps.
• Can you guys recommend any GAP insurance companies worth considering? I've not sorted out any insurance as of yet. Wanted to wait for the car and reg. I have been told I receive 5 days complimentary insurance through Audi.
• With the car having 2 card slots, any recommendations on who to get a sim through for the data for the car? I'm with EE on my phone contract.
• Is there anything else I need to make sure I receive tomorrow (other than the car and cable/s!) ... Just incase I forget to ask the dealer in all the excitement!
Thanks in advance folks for anyone who can help me out here ... I'm not an Audi newbie for nothing lol ...
Have a good day and I will try and get some pics up in next few days 👍🏽

Also I forgot to mention that when I spoke to the dealer he advised against getting Audi complete ... He said he'd only recommend it where someone was doing in excess of 20000 miles per annum.
I shouldn't do more than 8000 miles a year, which should be ok on tyres.
Car service would be needed after 20000 miles or 2 years i believe ... So think it makes sense to save that extra money and just put it on GAP insurance and maybe a duo of GAP which includes tyre insurance ... Would you guys agree on this one?

I believe you won't need any coloured cable for ami now. The facelift just allows you to plug iPhone usb cable straight in, audi have finally come to their senses! I have a 3 123 sim, cheapest i could find at the time. In truth i haven't used that much data anyway. As it is white you may want to consider getting some kind of protection on the paint etc. I had GTechniq detail on mine with C1 & EXO on the paint, C5 on wheels, G1 on glass and various other potions on the inside. Money well spent as it is a doddle to clean.
Most of all enjoy tmrw and the weekend

Thanks mate for the info.
How much roughly does it cost to get a detail like that done on an A6? It is something that I will get round to doing once I've counted how many pennies I still have left over after all the other costs lol
I'm in Essex so hopefully some decent GTechniq garage round here somewhere!

In terms of GAP I had decided to go with car2cover. I was planning on getting alloy cover as well. When I went into the dealer to pick up my car and sign all the paperwork they offered me their cover for both GAP and alloys which happened to be around the £850 mark. I mentioned that the quote from car2cover was £324 and they matched it. In terms of the level of cover and exclusions they were more or less (in some cases better) than car2cover so it seemed like a no brainer.
My car came with a lightening cable (not sure if that is exclusive to the Technology Pack Advanced) which I could plug into the USB port in the arm rest. I don't have an iPhone (Android fan here) but the girlfriend finds it useful to charge her iPhone 5S.
SIM card wise I bought a 3 contract for £7.50 a month with 1GB of data. The car itself doesn't use much data but both the girlfriend and I connect our phones to the car's wifi when in the vehicle so the data usage is higher.

My detail was around £400 there are a few gtechniq accredited detailers in the Chelmsford area. Just google Essex detailers to get details. It is a lot of money but we'll spend in my opinion. Few purchases of suitable shampoo etc once you have it done and you should be good to go.

If your mileage is that low, you should not be on long life service. Get it done yearly on the fixed schedule. The car will have 2 SD slots and 1 sim slot. If you are already with ee you should manage to get a data sim which uses your data for £7-£8 per month from ee, alternatively look on eBay for a 3 month 6gb sim for about £15. I find them good and just pop them in, scroll down and they activate.
Get the dealer to hook up your phone. You can download Audi connect app as well. Also, push them for a boot liner. I did some VCDS miss on a white black edition avant-lovely looking car. I'm sure you will love it. Good luck and get some pics up!

As you have Tech pack you will not need a special AMI cable as the car has 2 USB ports in place of the AMI port. Just use a standard Apple USB-Lightening Cable to connect your iPhone.

There seem to be a lot of issues with the A6 connecting to iPhones....what are they like with androids....specifically Samsungs? Pre-facelift as well as current?

What issues? AMI is designed for the iPhone (and as I understand it works better with the iPhone than it does with other devices) and the iPhone's work fine as Bluetooth connected phones and audio players as well. Most of the issues with the iPhone relate to the iPhone not supporting rSAP and therefore not being able to act as a data carrier for Audi Connect. Many Android phones also do not offer rSAP out of the box and require third party software to enable this feature and this will only become more common as rSAP is increasingly being dropped by phone manufacturers. With the arrival of the car integration solutions from Apple and Google of course this will all be something that goes away. The new Q7 already offers an improved level of integration

Hi guys
Well where do I start ... It's been a roller coaster of a day for me and my new Audi A6!
After signing all the required forms, I went outside and layed my eyes on my stunning new beast of a car ... It was an absolute beauty!
So after the sales exec had gone through all the ins and outs of the car, and given me a quick guide on the MMI, we were all set for a quick ride around the local area. Really enjoyed the drive and tried both comfort and dynamic ... Nice change up between the two.
Ok now we are back to the dealers and we go back inside to sort out last bit of any paperwork. The sales exec goes away for a 5mins, and comes back with a sad look on his face and says "I'm really sorry but I've just been informed that the car is missing a component for the latest update, and Audi Germany have sent out emails to all Audis to not give anyone their Audis until this critical update has been actioned on these cars" ......... You can now imagine what my head was going through and I was so confused by all of this ... My perfect day had turned into a nightmare!!
The sales exec couldn't apologise enough, and was very embarrassed by all of this and the business manager came over and said that they'll cover anything I buy from any retailer/food etc for up to £300, and to bring them the receipts when I come back to pick up my car in a few days, plus the sales exec gave me his brand new A5 special editions convertible to drive around until I pick my one up.
All I can say is that I am absolutely cream crackered by all of this.

Sounds bizzare. Surely if it was that critical there would be a recall?
I'm sure you will get there in the end :)

Let's hope the A5 is rubbish so you don't end up regretting getting the A6 instead :D

All I can say is that my car arrived at the dealer on the Friday and I collected it the following Wednesday (was actually available on the Tuesday) and no delays that I was made aware of. Given that no one else has reported a n experience of this type on any of the main Audi boards part of me can't help thinking that the dealer had suddenly found the car had been damaged and needed repairing and used the software story to avoid upsetting Audi_Newbie, but maybe I am being unfair to the dealer.

Must admit, that was my first thought when I read it. At least he has a decent car while he is waiting and not putting miles on his new car!
