Wipers

Have a 2009 A4 1.8T. I can't get the rain sensors to switch the wipers on. The window has to be so wet that you can't see out....then it wipes...sensitivity seems to be the problem. Please help

Is there not a sensitivity switch on top of the right hand stalk? I can adjust mine to 5 settings as I remember.
