Niall, I'd suggest buying them at that price, never seen Lemforder ones that cheap, appreciate the GSF listing is for one and you'll need 2.

A really easy job to do and you'll not need to realign your car afterwards.

These look like the things (I think you referred to them as "C" links Mark) that my dealer said needed replacing, but which my independent MOTer disagreed with. He said the simple way to tell is if there's any noise if you cross a gulley diagonally.

Mine looked aged at the edges but nothing more, and that's consistent with the age of the car. Think I'll reserve some as that's the only thing that the next owner of my car will benefit from (assuming I'm talking about the right thing).

Commonly called anti roll bar drop links, C Links or stabilizer links.

If it's not an MOT fail worth keeping in reserve as you have :)

Thanks once again. I was 99% sure they were what I might eventually need, but there was a nagging thought that there might be more than one "C" shaped part each side that might be similar but sufficiently different.

Anyway I reserved them using my wife's phone number and without telling her so she could pick them up. The next time we spoke she started rabbiting on about a strange call from NCP Car Parks that she'd just had. Clearly she hadn't read my text. ;)

Forgot to say that there's been no comment on them in the past 2 MOTs since Audi told me they definitely needed changing at £2-300 from memory. Really galls me that they service your car then give you a report about all the items they tried to sell you but you refused. I know they're lifting my leg most of the time but I don't need a report to tell me by how much!

Splash.....I'm still trying to decide if my c links need changing...got the parts a while back and only had the opportunity to have a look at mine today....they're kind of like yours were in 2015, aged at the edges but otherwise looking ok... call me stupid but I can't grasp what you mean by crossing a gulley diagonally...I read a post by zollaf and he said that c links are affected when your driving over something bumpy i.e. undulation. Which tallies in with my creaky car but as I said upon checking the bushes they look ok......grrr frustrating.. I've since found bigger problems so could do without changing these links if not necessary...

If you've got them change them...as has been said (in this thread) they only take an hour max to DIY, a mechanic should take a lot less. :)

I think by 'gulley' Niall means a dip or concave strip of road, diagonally means not straight on but at an angle.

Appreciate that the earlier posts were mid 2015 so coming up on 20 months old

Thanks Mark for helping....I've got sweet baby up on stands right now and could swap the links in a jiffy....though if there's a chance that they're not shot, well hey I can spend the £50 on the upper rear arms that have buggered looking bushes..or better yet the disintergrating front subframe bush..yikes that looks like a biggie job to do!!!!!!!

honestly I was expecting the links to look a lot worse, from driving and obviously everyone's help on here I had thought the links were gone (over speed bumps no creaking, over undulation = creaking). Perhaps what I thought was the links causing the creaking was actually the top rear control arms, the bushes on both front and left of car are ripped/torn.
Oh and are the console bushes the same thing as subframe bushes??? As a previous inspection by a mechanic picked up on play in my rear console bush......
