Audi 2.0tdi Multitronic Compatabiliy

Noon people,
I'm in a situation where no-one knows what's wrong with my gearbox, 16 'mechanics' have looked and scanned the car, including Audi, and no one has given a definite reason for it not engaging a gear so I am going to try a second hand box as I have spent enough of trying to find out what is wrong......
My gearbox code is LLA but they seem to be rarer than T-Rex love juice......I have found cars being broken for parts which have the same engine code but different gearbox code, so.....anyone know wether these would fit?

You will have no joy getting anyone to comment on this buddy, there are so many variations of these boxes it's nigh on impossible to cross reference them.

you need to find someone who has done it to give a confident answer, and there may only be 3 people in the world that know for sure.

I'm doing this on a c5 at the minute which is of little use to you but at least I will be able to tell you if they can be interchanged, I hope to have it driving this week.

Ok so like I said I was in the middle of doing a Box swap on my a6 c5, I could not get a box with the same code but got my hands on one from a 2004 a4 with avf engine so I took a chance to see would it work, put it all back together and it's driving perfect, still running on the ecu that came with the box, the a4 was the same year and same engine etc as my a6 so it seems there is some degree of interchangeability. Hope this helps a little.

Manual conversion is a no go, every control unit in the car is set up to work with auto and going manual leads to an extraordinary amount of reprogramming etc.

i have followed the few write ups there is available and they all have come out ok, clutch and reverese light wiring and vagcom coding to basically disable the multitronic settings as far as described
