Intake Manifold / Carbon Issues

Hi, I'm about to buy a 2005 A4 TFSI, but the owner warned me that the swirl flap or the intake manifold flap have some issues.Probably they need some cleaning at least that's what his mechanic told him.The car seems to be ok but I live 600 miles away from the seller and he said the car might not be able to make that far.can this carbon problem cause such a major issue that the car will break down? I'm willing to take the risk but thought better to ask some experts..thanks a lot

Walk away if anyone says a car won't make 600miles buddy.....plenty more out there! I think (no sure) the swirl flaps were not on all engines..... They are on my 3.0TDI but not sure about TFSI.
