Hi all

I have an Audi A4 2009 that has recently started to have a problem with the near side headlamp. When the Xenon dipped beam comes on it flickers for around a minute and then just goes dull and yellow like it is unable to make a steady power feed? Has anyone see this before and is there an easy fix or is it a replacement, and if so how much?

Audi A4 Avant 2009 S-line 2D 143hp

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Bruce

probably best to try a new bulb first.

Hi Zollaf, rumour has it bulbs are around £140!!! I hope that isn't right?
Are they difficult to change?

new bulb, if that doesn't work then a new ballast.

D3S xenon bulbs are expensive yes, eBay is flooded with fakes so best buying from a reputable seller like eurocarparts for example.

the headlight can be removed from a guide i found on google, and yes, the easiest way is to remove the headlight form its mounting.

Hi Chris

Thanks so much for the details above.. I assume the headlamp comes out without the need for bumper off then? Looks simple enough so I'll get a bulb and give it ago... assuming its the bulb. Do you have a guide for the Ballast and control unit replacement?

Thanks
Bruce

The link to Amazon, I assume the DS3 Xenon bulb is what I may need?

Eurocarparts don't have it available but I'll try bulbs direct.

Thanks

Never linked to Amazon, I think that's skimlinks.

Yes it comes out without removing the bumper, a plus of having a B8.

The ballast is only screwed onto the side or underside of the headlight and is a rectangular metal box. Bulb is easy, open the back cover, u clip the wiring harness then twist and turn.
