Car:Audi A4 B7-2008-Owned since 2014
Met up with a mate today to code an rns e stereo to accept aux

Got vagcom plugged in; but i can't communicate with the Navigation or Radio Module it says "No Response From Controller",the RNS-E has been fitted since i've had it so i don't know if its been retrofitted. I've had the stereo out to see if it was a loose wire and it all seems intact. The wiring seems genuine so doesn't look like its an adaptor plugged in; now i'm clutching at straws here i spent absolute ages on it today. I've managed to find on a forum about someone fitting the RNS-E when they have the symphony stereo fitted and they moved 2 wires to allow vagcom to talk with it. but i wouldnt have thought this would be an issue as the navigation appears on the speedometer display thingy

Ruled out vagcom working as i can access other modules as i turned off seatbelt chime, disabled auto locking at 15mph
Also the navigation displays on the speedometer thingy so the stereo does seem to talk with the car just not vagcom
Any help would be appreciated!

I'm in the same boat as you fella & have struggled to find an answer thus far so hopefully someone will be able to help out with this.

Is there a chance the unit came from another car and was coded to canbus and not k-line?

Not sure if this could be the case as I think this would prevent it working full stop

It was something along those lines that I read myself but buggered if i know what wires to swap over, did'nt want to do any damage.

Not sure if it is possible out of a car

However I think it needs to go back in a canbus car - from there the coding can be set to Kline (it'll stop working in that car) and now it'll talk on Kline when put into your car

I may be totally off the mark but had to do something similar with a BT module that came from a TT

Ok thanks for your reply fella, probs end up leaving it as it is then. I can get the directions up in the dis but have to turn the stereo off & then back on before it displays. Can't access my phonebook through the stereo either :(

That does sound like it could be the problem then

What BT module do you have as that will also determine phone book capability

That I'm not sure of but it all works fine on the steering wheel but can't make a call from the stereo itself.

Checked the kline wire was in the right place as per the stereo wiring diagram (on top of the stereo), i've got a diagrm to aid it. For me it was in the right place just the vagcom cable knackered as someone else has coded it for me using the genuine cable...don't know how to add a diagram to this post unfortunately...if you message me separately i can send you the diagram

Mine has the diagram on top too fella, I used an adapter to wire it from the original wiring setup to rnse which claimed to be the correct adapter. Kind of used to it now but it does bug me.

Erm well on top of your old stereo should show where the k line wire is on the original connector, you then follow the wire trhrough the adaptor to the rns e and make sure its in slot b5
