Just bought the car its a 2002 with 110k miles... test drive went fine... everything as it should be then ... the last couple of days when starting the ESP light stays on and the car judders as if misfiring but still drives all be it a bit rough. If you stop and start it a couple of times the light goes off and stays off and the cars drives 100%.. It is due a service, would it do this simply because its overdue or could it be the injector harness (read in older posts) and if so is it the same harness for the 100bhp version as the others from that year? :1zhelp:

my first guess would indeed be the injector harness. a code read may reveal a misfire, probably to injector 1, which would give me enough to replace the harness with a new one from a dealer.

Left the car into the garage as the esp light came on more often and it is nearly driving 'roughly' all the time. He has been looking at the car most of the day and he says the rough idle is down to injector problems and compression faults. When I asked if he thought it might be the injector harness he said he would fit one if I asked them to but he would continue to try and and rectify the rough idle before. Should I ask him to fit the harness first to see if it rectifies any of the problems - don't want to throw money at a problem that might be resolved fairly simply as I need a service and a timing belt change as well. Can anyone help with the part number of the harness I tried 038971600 but Ebay tells me this is not compatible with my car

all i can do is refer to my last post. he has found a fault with an injector, and like i said, if the computer shows a fault with an injector then its highly likely the harness is faulty. they are 60 quid from a dealer, which is the only place to buy one, do not mess with an ebay one unless its a genuine part. they take an hour to fit.
