Can any wise men tell me where I might find the ect sensor that feeds the temperature gauge?
I have searched and searched, I've obviously missed it, so if anyone knows for sure please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

On the ABC V6 ,there are two, one on each bank at the rear of the rocker box area, fiddly to get at but not too bad.
Google images may help, using Audi ABC V6 SENSOR ETC AS A SEARCH TITLE
Before you get too involved though are just looking at this because your gauge is crapping about, they usually do mess around due to solder breaking in rear of binnacle and quite often the fuel gauge will be playing up at the same time.
Has been covered well over the years so a forum search on fuel-temp gauge issues may help, good luck

ps, one senser for ecu, other for gauge, cant remember which way round

Oh dear! Thank you for that information after I've just paid someone to change the thermostat! I will look at the gauge posts in that case. I suppose the fix is to replace the instrument cluster or to have it repaired?!?!?!?
Excuse my ignorance, but what is the ABC ?

My pleasure old pal, there is probably a thread with pictures somewhere on the forum search, but basically remove the said cluster and re-solder a couple of joints which have failed over time.
Of course it wouldn't hurt to research on the temp sensors still just in case you have a dud causing you an issue after all.
ABC is the engine code number for the 2.6 litre v6 petrol engine in your car, and mine ( not the red cabby in my avatar) you'll see this mentioned in your engine number on the logbook and on the sticker in your handbook( and the sticker in the spare wheel well under the carpet) easy to remember when quoting the engine type when sourcing parts.
