BRE or DPF

My A6 was registered in late February 2008. How would I find out if I have the BRE 2.0TDI or the DPF version?

Also what exactly are the differences between the two apart from the obvious addition of a DPF.

Check the option sticker in the spare wheel for 7GN - if you see this then you have no dpf, if you can't see it then you have a dpf.

I think (but may be wrong) that the 2.0 engines went DPF before the 3.0.

Yes 7GN for no DFP but will show as 7GG if it has one.

Having just re-read your question......the BRE engine CAN have a DPF fitted. My 2007 car has but it was an option (not chosen by me :zx11:). It'll still be a BRE but with the codes as described above if it has a DPF.
