It looks like the new 190 engined A4 is now orderable: Audi A4 Avant estate prices & specifications | Carbuyer (http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/audi/a4/estate/variants#variants), but not yet on audi.co.uk. And its only £200 more than the 177!

I've tried that 190 in a loaner A6 ultra.

Cracking engine and returning amazing mpg too (DIS).

Yep, my order (placed on Monday) of a 177 black edition plus has been changed to a 190 black edition nav

The spec is in the new catalogue (April 2015) up on audi.co.uk now.

Unless I am missing something the 190 doesn't look any better than the 177.

Comparing the Feb2015 spec'ed 177 multitronic avant vs the April2015 spec'ed 190 mulitronic avant it looks to me that the 177 gets to 62mph faster (just, only 0.2s) with better mpg (approx 1mpg), and saves £20 tax/yr. But the 190's top speed is 138mph against the 177's at only 131mph, which is kind of irrelevant at our motorways limit us to 70mph(ish), and has a little more torque.

Is it a completely new engine or just a slightly remaped 177 ?

It must be new - the car is 55kg heavier

That weight won't all be engine (unless they've added a couple of cylinders!) but would explain why the new 190 is no quicker than the 177....

Where do you get that from?

Official Audi figures I have in front of me are

177ps - 380torque = 7.6 seconds to 60
190ps - 400torque = 7.4 seconds to 60

granted its not a lot but its what you would expect from around 10bhp increase

edit* these are for a manual quattro

It will have the adblue system like the A6 ultras presumably so some of the additional weight will come from the extra tank and 15 odd litres of adblue.

Spoke to the sales guy at Audi the other day and apparently all diesel A4's from now (except the 3.0 or if you're buying old stock) have Ad Blue.
Listed as "clean diesel" on the configurator.

I was comparing 2.0 TDI Multitronic Avants, which is pg91 of the catalogue.

I was going to attach both catalogues here, but they are 6MB each and it says they are too big

What's Adblue ?

Without getting too heavy...it's a fluid mixed with the exhaust gases to reduce NOx emissions - makes the engine cleaner basically...more here -http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_exhaust_fluid

Although in doing this it does slightly increase carbon dioxide hence the slight hike in tax (VED)

Thanks - sorry I was being lazy when I posted my earlier post!
