Well, Connor was looking at a new car, looking to trade up and into a Ford Focus or similar, why not an X type says I?

Anyhow, spied a lovely looking example, cheap as chips for what it has.
Black with charcoal interior
Leather / Heated seats
Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Heated front screen, Cruise control, AC
Front AND rear park assist and more......18" proteus design alloys, Carbon fibre dash inserts
Around 9 months MOT and at 53,000 miles ( low mileage for year ) recently serviced at 49,573

Its the 2.2d Sport premium and excellent condition for year and mileage....at 153bhp, good combo of power and mpg, saw 44mpg on the way home from Liverpool and could see 50+ mpg on a long motorway run at sensible speeds.

Its in great shape, the back has hardly been sat in, and never smoked in
Looking to make it a little better, so on the list......

1. Although the 18" proteus wheels are in good condition, they're not perfect so a refurb on the way. ( Booked in for Friday )
3. Brake hubs painted stock silver and calipers flaming red. (DONE)
4. Window tints on the rear, nothing OTT just a medium smoke (booked in for Thursday)
5. Private plates to fit
6. Washed, clay barred, washed, Poorboys Blackhole topped with Nattys blue paste wax for a showroom shine hopefully (Mostly DONE)

He was coming to the meet in June as a passenger, now as an X type owner himself, just hoping everything is done in time
Needless to say he's more than a little chuffed, so he should be a Jag owner at 19!

1.Wheels off and wheel wells cleaned and treated with "Wet n Black" - big improvement.
2.Whilst the wheels were off, they were once again cleaned inside n out, then the hubs were painted stock silver and calipers were painted red - massive improvement.
Calipers given 2nd coat and looking great.......

3.New hub centre caps ordered in both black and red to give options ( at the silly Ebay price offered it'd be rude not to )
4.Tyre valve caps ordered and awaiting delivery
5.New Xtype and 2.2d badges ordered (RECEIVED AND FITTED)
6.R badge for front grille ordered, awaiting delivery
7.Waiting to order the illuminated leds to fit in the front grille as per Acapiz ( wicked mod !! )
8.Leapers ordered - considering install above the chrome JAGUAR side emblems
9.Leaper decals on order for the headrests
10.Paint & lacquer arrived to refinish the door mirror caps
11.Engine bay cover removed and JAGUAR painted in red as per my cover / Peters done previously (DONE)
12.Car washed, claybarred n cleaned today too, looking good, but more than a few swirl marks. I taped off a small section and used a cutting compound, then Poorboys blackhole followed by Nattys blue paste wax......see below.

Quite an improvement!!
15. Car to be booked in for rear window tints ( medium smoke - nothing too drastic - FRIDAY)

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/20150426_165033_zpssqw7a8dt.jpg (http://s140.photobucket.com/user/jaycam0802/media/20150426_165033_zpssqw7a8dt.jpg.html)

Paintwork - cleansed to remove any tar deposits, cleaned and washed again, then paintwork cut to remove the bulk of any swirl marks, already looking awesome.

It'll look even better again once the Poorboys Blackhole is applied.

Engine bay cover, cleaned and JAGUAR painted in Red to compliment accents installed / added to the car. Connor did this, took several hours and around 4 coats.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/20150426_234808_zpsct0uswg4.jpg (http://s140.photobucket.com/user/jaycam0802/media/20150426_234808_zpsct0uswg4.jpg.html)

Also had another idea.....
Engine bay is very clean, almost spotless after a brief detailing session, to be fair it was already in great shape.
The shock towers though look bare, no covers etc and a little plain, my eyes are drawn to them as a standout, but not in a good way.
The thought is.........

To use some wheel centre caps, with the tabs cut off and made smooth added to the top of these using silicone sealant as an adhesive, should be easily removed if needed with no damage

Jim it looks fabulous! There's more work done to that car than I've done to all the cars I ever owned!

Thanks Doc, much appreciated
I know on a VWAudi forum it won't be to everyone's tastes, but it really is a great car, fully loaded, great power and economy and in superb condition......although you wouldn't think so with my list of things to do / change...lol

I'll post back once everything has ben done and try to remember them all, maybe take pics of the little add ons etc and the finished article.

He's only 19 Doc and over the moon, me too if I'm honest
Long story but I never had anyone pushing me to get the best car, get it looking clean and in good order, so pleased I can help him to achieve this

The Avenger was black vinyl over Massey Ferguson red! I was poor in those days and I managed to stay poor

Thanks Hawks, yeah pretty nice car, I'm probably about as pleased for him as he is for himself...lol
We had a 30 min test drive on our own around the Wirral after closely inspecting it for an hour or so, then came back to go through all the paperwork.
The longgggg drive home was great, well at least for my son in his new X type, around 230 miles of pure bliss I guess compared to his Vauxhall Astra 1.4 2004

You lucky bugger, a snob amongst us....lol
I guess my first car was around 25 ( started late ) with a Ford Cortina 2.0 Ghia....lol
It was on an S plate iirc and the passenger floorwell flooded when it was washed or when it rained

Amen to that.....if I gave up work, eating, drinking, cycling and interacting with the human race I'd probably free up just enough time to start that wish list on one car, let alone the other Jag and A6 you own Jim!

I can just abut fit in my cars "quarterly wash" in between routine maintenance!

It does look nice though and what a step up from a 2004 Astra!

Saw these after much searching....think they look great
I'm speaking to the seller regarding the possibility of getting the Leaper added just above the X type logo

Should be a nice touch in the cabin I think?

Rear window tints ( medium smoke ) should be done on Thursday all being well and wheels refurbed to as new on Friday.
There's new wheel centre caps, tyre valve caps to be added, Growler roundels applied to top of strut mounts on the engine bay, Chrome leapers to add just above the Jaguar emblem where the old side repeater used to be, R badge added to front grille, White leaper decals added to the black leather headrests, private number plate to put on and a few other little incidentals.

Jurys out on the new Red Growler badge for the front grille, led backlighting for front grille and lower lip spoiler......maybe in time, so hopefully by about this weekend just about ready good to go.

Car in at Prestige Jaguar all morning / early afternoon and the steering rack has been replaced, the car is transformed and now as it should be.
It should've had a 4 wheel alignment too, but we had to leave asap as we had a appt with the window tinter, job done!
The car's going back to Prestige early next week to get the alignment sorted, In the meantime the windows tinted in dark smoke, really suit the car ad a great job done too.

Mirror glass also changed as they were showing sings of age, starting to get rough around the edges, Dougie changed them for me. I also asked him to leave the mirror caps off, these have been sanded down, primed, painted and lacquered, now much better. I'll put them back on the car in the next day or so.
Locking wheel nuts removed and replaced with standard nuts

R grill badge fitted, adds a nice splash of colour to the front grille, now needs a red growler to replace the grey one.
Red wheel centre caps and tyre valve caps test fitted and look great complimenting the red calipers, but then removed.
The existing new black ones had their tabs removed and sanded down, then siliconed above the top strut mountings, looks good.

Car in at Wheelpro Scotland tomorrow am for wheel refurbishment all round, now getting close.
I won't bore you with pics but will add them once all the work has been completed.

Ok so got the X type back today, alloys refurbed, windows tinted, centre caps and tyre valves added, R badge front. X type and 2.2D badge at rear.
Under the bonnet, JAGUAR hand painted Red heat resistant paint and leaper added, wheel centre caps modified to sit above the top strut mounts.
Hubs & calipers painted stock silver and red respectively

I'm sure there's load of other things but these are the highlights I guess.

The car isn't cleaned / polished and needs going over but in pretty good shape so far, needs a little attention, engine bay detailed etc.....

4 wheel alignment done today as part of the replacement steering rack last week, driving even better according to Connor.

Red Growler grille badge added and really sets off the look ( no pic yet )

I think he's getting the wheels of and redoing the calipers tomorrow / Wednesday with the Ferarri gloss Red for a much deeper shinier finish, and a mini detail.

Probably get pics then...
