Quick question as per the title; has anyone tried C6 model roofbars on a C7 Avant? I suspect they won't fit but worth an ask as it would save me some trouble if so.

I expect so, but not perfectly. I bought Thule roof bars for my c6, and they work on my c7. Although I think the profile of the bar is slightly different they appear to fit adequately but the feet do not sit perfectly flush. Just returned from Mole Valley stores with 2 100mm x 100mm 2.4m long fence posts with no issues...

I have the Green Valley bars bought for my C6 and they fit my C7 perfectly so would expect the Audi official ones to be the same. You could always see if the dealer will let you test them.

And in case anyone's searching this later, allroad roof rails are different to conventional C6s or C7s so incompatible. Profile remains the same between C6 and C7 allroads so its width dependent.

Just saying to avoid any costly slip-ups, rather than UVB's specific case which looks conventional without seeking to dis the Le Mans. ;)

UGH ok thanks for that Splash.

I really need to offer up the Avant C6 rack I have onto my C7 allroad. Looks like I will need to buy some extra bits to make it all work.
Main desire is to carry the thule mountain bike carriers I have as I've started getting back into riding the bike for a bit of exercise now.

But we're lucky with allroads as most roofbars (including the inexpensive Lidl variety) should fit due to the height. Anyway you can always borrow mine (Bosal) although they're not as local as me just now. I seldom use them and they're still attached to my rickety roofbox so I didn't need to remeasure etc.

I've also go the internal bike C6 mounts which fit in the spare wheel well (for fixing 2 x MTB width forks) so are fairly transferrable to any estate with a well of dia. 670mm or so. C7 should accomodate full size 245/45 18 from C6 (don't ask me why I I've thought about it - and measured it!) but the offer's there if you want to try it. Just take a compressor etc. in case of unlikely puncture or have P on standby.

If you are going from C6 Avant to C7 Allroad you will as a minimum need new feet as the Allroad has raised roof rails whilst the C6 has flush roof rails

Isn't the whole point of the Allroad that you can fit the bike inside the car? That's half the reason I bought mine. ;-)

There's also no less interior space when you pick the "black headlining" option - another common fallacy; and intense DRLs don't make your car go proportionally faster either. ;)

Yes but the wife and children seem to object to having to sit on the roof getting wet while the bikes are dry inside!
