Hi guys,

I've stone chipped one of my front grill parking sensors and it intermittently detects sounding the beeper when near nothing. I've bought a replacement unit off eBay but can't get the sucker out of the front grill. I've got down inside the back of the grill and tried to remove it but although can wiggle it back some and try to pull back the clips, I can't get it out. I then decided to try and take the front grill off but after removing a few screws and pulling at various thing I couldn't do that either. Can anyone advise the best way to get a front grill sensor out and if it's by removing the grill, how the hell do you do that?!

Thanks,

Merry

There should be two clips/clamps holding the sensor in. These both need to be spread apart for the sensor to be removed from the back. If you can manage to do that and get a second person to push the sensor from the front. Its probably a bit snug in there due to the rubber seal around it.
If this fails then you will have to remove the bumper to get the grille off. There is no way the grille is coming off with the bumper in situ. It has about 12 or 14 or so screws holding it to the bumper.

Sorted it thanks. More robust that it seemed - if anyone else tries, don't worry about breaking it, just give it some brute force. Just had to wiggle it lots and it came out. It actually came out in its housing and then I removed it from that. Much easier than trying to just get the sensor out. When fitting the new sensor - make sure you take the rubber seal off the original sensor before you put the new one in or you'll have to take it all out again.... :aargh4:

Merry2, trying to perform the same repair and I can't seem to get the sensor or mounting bracket loose. The sensor should push to the inside but seems to be trapped by a tab on the bottom. The mounting bracket doesn't want to budge. Does the bracket push out the front ? I see 2 tabs holding it... is there a trick? Thanks
