M.o.T. failure on headlamp because bulb clip broken and bulb just wobbling about :( Can I get a replacement spring wire clip and fit it myself, or do I have to replace the whole unit as suggested by garage? Some models you can, some you can't. Also, if it has to be the whole lot replaced, can I just get the back part without the glass lens?
Any help gratefully received

Thanks for this. I have messaged the seller on e-bay to make sure that 1 of the 6 might fit? Am I to take it from your most helpful response that you know that the clip on the Ibiza 2003 1.2Litre IS replaceable, rather than having to buy a whole/half unit?
Sorry to be so dumb about this but the car is not actually with me at present so I can't look to see. Yes, I know!

Look at your "good" light check if the clip comes off, most do

No, I don't know that for sure. I don't have your car here either.
You said it was a wire retaining clip that was missing. Below is a picture of the H7 bulb retainer clip on a MK4 Golf, and as you can see, the wire clip is easily replaced.
On the VW Polo (that the Ibiza is based on) the headlamp bulb isn't secured by a wire clip. It's secured by a metal clip (2nd photo) that has little blades that slide under screws either side of the bulb.
If that's the type of retainer on your lamps, I'm sure if you search e'bay you'll find that type of clip for sale there too.
As Doc suggests, take a look at the good lamp and see how the bulb is secured then you will know what type of clip you need to buy.
Regards.
Jim.
