Good evening B5 drivers,

I found today a loose electric wire in engine bay, quite deep down:

27574

It was left quite low down near the thermostat housing. I couldn't find where it meant to connect around there.

It has a metal clip at the end and it looks like it clips on to somewhere and the end cluster connected to some receptor?

I traced the wire back as far as possible and it seems to be tied along with other electric wire bundles found in front of the power steering fluid reservoir (hidden under the reservoir plastic cover).

I usually search on Google to solve issues, but I don't know how to call it or where it should belong so I'm stuck on this one.

I would like to ask for a clue on what it is and where it should connect to.

Many thanks for looking and all for your help, as always!

Happy motoring.

looks like the connectors for the bonnet switch. Have a look to see if the bonnet switch is connected (center of slam panel) the connectors are hidden underneath

BINGO!!

Thank you thank you thank you!

The next question... I have the wires "brown" and "brown + green line"; does it matter which wire goes to which pin?
I haven't tried but it seems like it can go either way so I don't want to hook them up wrongly and have some sort of electronic glitch later on.

Would anyone be kind enough to check your beloved B5 to check which wire goes to "nearside" and "offside" pins?

Thanks very much once again.

Order is not important, the switch is just open or close so all the ecu sees is continuity or open circuit
Cheers

Perfect, thanks very much hairyape1!

Though I'm not too sure how long this has been unconnected for, it doesn't really matter does it!

Happy B5 motoring.
