Hi I am hoping for some advice/help. I have owned my 2005 A4 2.5tdi auto for the past 4 years. It now has 98K miles and has developed a starting issue. It doesn't matter whether the engine is hot or cold, it wont start although if you spray a small amount of easy start, it will spring into life and run with no issues at all for as long as you want to drive it. If the car is switched off and left for a few minutes, it will start no problem. If left off for more than 20 minutes it wont start unless you use easy start and then runs great when started.

I have scanned the car with VCDS and there is no codes stored. There is no air in the clear fuel line at the engine. Today I tired starting the car with live data active focusing on engine speed G28 which showed 0rpm during cranking.

This issue original started when weather cold and would take longer to start when cold but always started (no issue when warm), I thought this was glow plugs and was planning to replace although over a few weeks it developed into a cold / hot starting issue.

Can anyone shed any help or advice on this? Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Diesel injector pump is the weakest link. It may just be an internal sensor. You can get the pump tested at diesel bob's.

Thanks for the reply. I was out in the car yesterday, run great for 10 mile then when coming to a junction she started to lose power, after 1/2 mile she died and has refused to restart. After getting it towed home I scanned it again with VCDS.

2 Faults Found:
17583 - Pre-Injection Turned Off
P1175 - 35-10 - - Intermittent
00550 - Start of Injection Regulation
11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent
Readiness: 0 0 X X X

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks
