Hi Guys
I'm an absolute newbie to the Audi world as have had Fords throughout the years!
I was deliberating between the BMW 5 series or the Audi A6 ...... But after looking at both inside and out there was only one winner -------- A6 2.0 TDI Ultra Black Edition 4dr S Tronic (It looks like such a beauty!)
I went on carwow (recommended by a friend of mine!) and spec'd one up with the following additions;
Ibis White
Technology pack - A6 - £1625.0
Valcona leather - Black + sport seats
Deletion of model + engine designation at rear
S line sports suspension
Lighting pack - £250.0
Front and outer rear heated seats - £440.0
Electric/heated/folding door mirrors - £235.0
Parking pack - A6/RS6 - £810.0
20" 5 twin spoke design alloy wheels
Total RRP - £41,470.
The best discount I have received from a dealer on a finance plan was £32,519 (21.6% off the RRP)
Ideally I am looking to go for a 3 year plan and at the end have the flexibility to choose what to do next.
I wanted to ask the experts amongst us in here a few questions;
1) What is a good deposit to put down (10% of the total??)
2) For those that have similar or even same spec as me, how are you finding them? Which would you say is a must?
3) I believe in the tech pack the screen is larger and you get a few more extras. Can someone please tell me how much difference it makes from the standard MMI?
4) With the option of having silver lunar seats now as standard, would you say stick with black seats on Ibis white or lunar seats with white ... ?
5) Does having 20" alloys on the this car make the ride bumpier or for those that have them tell me how they are finding it?
Is there any other advice you can give in regards to what I have spec'd or any advice in general when going through the process.
I'm looking to put the order in the next few days.
Hope I haven't bored you guys that much and many thanks in advance for reading this and for any replies!!

Personally I can't see the benefit of the tech pack v the price, definitely black with Ibis White and my car ride fine for me on 20"s, reversing camera and parking sensors for me is a must, it is bloody big when you try and park it.

1) A good deposit to put down is £0. I would expect they will ask you for at least £2k, try and haggle them down to £500.
2) Your options are your own person pick, they all work very well.
3) You get the larger screen with google earth maps, HDD sat nav, colour DIS, Wifi hotspot, audi connect. Miles better than the standard sat nav.
4) No idea
5) Yes, but probably not as bad as you think.
There's nothing essential you are missing. Good luck.

Get a quote from Drive the Deal too... they were coming out to be about £2k cheaper than the cheapest CarWow quote I got.

Tech Pack gives you a larger display within the pop up screen, Hard Disk based navigation (rather than SD Card), Colour DIS which amongst other things now allows you to display the navigation map there and not just navigation instructions, Audi Phone box which is supposed to give better connection for phone and data and Audi Connect which gives you real time traffic data from Google as opposed to TMC data in the standard navigation, the ability to establish a wifi hot spot in the car. All of the data connectivity is provided using either your phone's data allowance (providing the phone supports rSAP which is not the case for the iPhone) or via a separate SIM with its own data plan. Whilst without doubt it is a nice option I agree with BerlinTaxi that it is hard to justify financially and when I came to ordered my new A6 Avant on Monday could not justify the extra £40 per month over 4 years, especially when the sales person said it made minimal difference to the trade in value of the car.
As to deposit assuming you go with Audi Finance, and it will already be factored into the quote from CarWow, you will be getting £4500 (£2250 Audi, £2250 dealer) contribution to the deposit. Personally I am then adding in the remaining equity from the PX on my existing car and will probably not add any more in. All that means is that the monthly payments are a little higher but I have the benefit of the capital.

I agree with belly buster. I would say go with black, did some VCDS tweaks on an ibis white Avant and the black looks great. For me the tech pack and heated seats are brilliant for the kids. The sports seats are better than SE. I don't use my folding mirrors much but they were free. I don't have the parking pack but this is my 3rd A6 so used to it and the parking sensors are good.

Many thanks for all the kind and helpful replies peeps!!
I am going to see a dealer today who has said that they will match the best quote I received, plus they are nearer to me then the other Audi dealership.
I did a check on DTD and it came back slightly higher than best carwow deal.
Can somoene please tell me what the black cloth headlining means (THERE IS AN OPTION FOR THIS), and whether it's better than whatever is normally included? Also for those that do have TECH PACKS, would you add this option again to any future Audi you may buy?
Is there any important questions I should ask them in regards to the whole process - from finance to delivery?
Now the last car I bought was a Ford Mondeo many moons ago, so the experience with Audi will be a big upgrade and hopefully not to daunting .. !
Hopefully they can do me a great deal so that I can put pen to paper in the coming days!

Option list looks good - very similar to what I have and the only thing I would toss away and replace is the auto park feature which I really have not got to grips with.
I think you get Xenon headlights as standard so you might look at adding the adaptive functionality (if it is not included).
I'd go black leather rather than silver purely because it will wear better (keep cleaner). On that basis think carefully about the black headlining - instead of being light grey, all of the internal door pillars and the entire interior of the roof will be black - if you go and sit in a black edition A6 in the showroom it should have black roof lining. It can look kinda cool but darkens the interior of the car. I think that if you have a sunroof it's not so bad (but I'd not recommend a sunroof anyway).
Tech pack = Yes. It's a good deal when you add up the individual bit and putting the merits of the bigger screen and improved satnav aside the whole colour driver information display (between the rev counter and speedo) completely lifts the cockpit. Search for colour DIS on the forum and you'll find a long discussion and some photos of the old colour DID (pre-facelift) - the new one is even better.
I find it ironic that people will pay for big alloys to make the car look "nice" but when it comes to doing something that makes the interior more appealing (and in particular the bits that you look at all the time as the driver) they balk at the cost...

S-Line (and therefore BE) have the black cloth headlining as standard. The option is for the SE only. There is also the option to upgrade to Black alcantarar but that is silly (over £2k) and definitely not worth it. The black headlining is one of the key things that puts me off the S-Line as I think with the black leather it just makes the interior too dark but I am clearly in a minority as others love it.

I went for lunar silver and was worried about the kids wrecking he seats, however I pre treated it with Dr Leather and so far so good.
The heated seats and mirrors are a must as the car is wide and mirrors are also big so not a fan of pushing mirrors in when parked on the high street.
Not sure if you need the parking pack is worth it as the standard sensors a great anyways.
I ordered with main dealer and then looked at drive the deal and then showed this to dealer and he dropped the price and threw in a full tank and other stuff.
Don't forget to take into account the service and tyre package as 20 in will push the price up.

That's interesting. My local dealer told me to basically get lost when I showed him an OrangeWheels quote on my Wife's new A1. Went with a different dealer through OW in the end so their loss I guess.

Surprised DtD were more expensive than CarWOW.
Black headlining is the colour for the interior roof of the car... I believe the options are grey or black.
With regards to the Tech Packs, my current A6 doesn't have anything special and I do wish I had it. So much so that the A6 I have on order is going to come with the Advanced Tech Pack :)

A6 deals are a bit easier to come by than A1 deals.
