So I have a 1.8 tfsi I believe its an SE. It is a b8.
I need discs and pads all around. When I called a oats shop I was told the are 2 sizes of diameter 314 & 320. Does anyone know which I need without me taking off a wheel and trying to measure them.
I was quoted quite alot to get it fixed. There was also a cv joint. But i have been told you can only buy a complete driveshaft. I don't think this is true but to make their job easier. There was a coolant leak too. Been told th housing costs 90. Pretty bad quote at just over 900. Anyone got any more info or help me up with cheapest parts. May still look at uprated ones but still no good if I don't know the right size.

If you can't measure the disc put your reg into a few sites like GSF or Eurocarparts or ring a dealer, bring her to a decent Indie, about half that should cover it

if you can hold a spanner try doing the brakes yourself, not difficult to do ;)
Do the brakes yourself - I've just done mine, piece of cake!
To measure - find a straight piece of wood, place over edge of disc and measure from wood to the centre of wheel hub....then double. Mine was 160mm which gave me a 320 disc.

Thanks. I noted someone said Gsf which rang bells. Spoken to an uncle after the Gsf staff discount. If he can't tell I will get wood. Lol

1.8TFSI should be 314mm the 2.0s are on 320mm for the front rotors. Do check out the options sticker at your rear boot, near the spare tyre section. You can input the codes there to find out your exact brake settings (314mm, 320mm, 345mm etc) for both front n rear brakes.

Thanks for coming back to me. I actually got it all fitted. And sorted now. I ordered brakes and pads for the front and back, it was lookedup by chassis number, uncle handled it all. Also got the CV outer kit. Ohhh my the rrp on that was crazy. 269. I got it for alot less about 60. All parts from my uncles Gsf staff discount come in at 170. The indie fitted it for 100. So alot better than the 900 I was quoted from the same indie. Happy with it so far. I know I still need that leak fixed, but was told the housing was pretty expensive. Close to 100. Then will need more anti freeze. I've just decided to leave that for now. I have also been sorting the Wife's GTD. Had to buy so much for that. Bonnet, battery, service, tyres, she needs all round brakes done on that too! Back to Gsf I think. =)
